We are an Anchorage based boutique tax, financial consulting, valuation and litigation consulting firm, with clients primarily statewide and some outside Alaska. Primarily a one man shop, independent contractors and professional referrals are employed when needed. The services offered are described here.
Michael R. Hanrahan CPA, CFP®, CFE, CFF, MCBA – Graduated, cum laude, with a B.S. in Business (double-majoring in accounting and finance) from Eastern Illinois University, holds an MBA, a Graduate Certificate in Finance and a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) degree (magna cum laude). He is a Master Certified Business Appraiser (MCBA), one of only a few in the nation, a CPA, Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). He has previuosly held the following professional designations: Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and Accredited in Business Appraisal Review (ABAR).
His primary practice areas currently include business valuation, forensic accounting, financial consulting, assessment of accounting systems, financial modeling, commercial and economic damages, fraud investigation, divorce planning, pension valuation, litigation support, individual, business, corporate and trust taxation and planning, and individual and business financial planning. He has been qualified as an expert witness in Alaska Superior and federal district courts.
Currently managing member of Hanrahan & Associates, LLC, he was a Principal with Mikunda, Cottrell & Co. for over three and a half years, ran Hanrahan & Company, P.C. (a CPA firm) for 16 years, and previously worked for Ernst & Whinney, AT&T Alascom and local CPA and consulting firms. He is past president of the Alaskan Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, is past secretary of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) Alaskan chapter, and is also a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Alaska Society of CPA’s, The Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) and the National Business Valuation Group. He has appeared on television, spoken and published on various accounting, tax, valuation and business topics, conducted education courses and seminars for the Alaska Bar Association, taught graduate and undergraduate university courses in finance, accounting and taxation, was appointed to NACVA’s national teaching team to instruct CVA recertification courses, is a mentor for both IBA and NACVA, and is a former member of the IBA Qualifications Review and NACVA Course Review Committees.
